Personal Trainer with over 19 years of experience.
Managed, trained and developed Personal Trainers for major fitness corporations.
In the years that I have been in the fitness industry, I believe my biggest contribution was inspiring individuals to make fitness part of their life. I have helped in the growth and development of some of the greatest trainers serving Northern California. Some of these trainers have matured and are now managing fitness facilities for major fitness corporations.
I was inspired by one of the most significant leader in the fitness industry by this saying a long time ago and to this day I still share this with anyone I meet who wants to be successful in anything, "Don't sing it, bring it".

ACSM Health Fitness Instructor
As a Personal Fitness Trainer for the past eighteen years, I've had lots of experience in helping my clients reach their fitness goals. I started out as a place kicker for two semi-professional football teams in the Bay Area, and I was lucky enough to be trained by an exceptionally respected football coach, Ben Parks. He helped me get into the best shape of my life and inspired me to follow my passion of fitness.
Since training with him, I have always been a big proponent of mixing resistance training with both aerobic and anaerobic exercises. So, rope jumping, football pass catching, plyometrics, boxing, and various other modes of exercises can easily be included in my workouts. It makes for an interesting, fast-paced workout that will get both the novice and the experienced exerciser in top shape.
No matter your age or current fitness level, I can help you reach your goals in weight loss, muscle sculpting, muscle building, power, core health, cardiovascular fitness, and general conditioning.

I have been a full-time independent trainer for 14 years, after a successful career as a copy editor. I came to fitness later in life and pursued my new passion with gusto. As a cancer survivor, I have taught workshops on fitness during and after cancer. In 2008, I presented a seminar on Body Dysmorphic Disorder at the Commonwealth Club of San Francisco. I now teach a monthly workshop on form and function to the staff trainers at Gold's Gym Castro.
The most important element in my training routines is FUN. I'm a tough taskmaster, but I make my clients laugh while whipping them into shape. My goal is to help people achieve a healthy, joyous lifestyle through the practice of the maxim "mens sana in corpore sano" (a sound mind in a sound body).
"The lovely endorphin rush of exercise calms the mind as well as the body, opens up the heart and the soul, makes one a better person; it's a key to joie de vivre." — Cecilia Joyce

Having grown up in the country with a life of work on the farm, the importance of exercise was instilled in me as a youth. After 4 years in the United States Air Force stationed in Japan and Germany and a follow-on of 5 years of project management throughout the Middle East, East Africa, and Asia, I returned to the United States bringing my spirit for adventure, organizational skills, and passion for fitness.
Having continued my own strength training and then, a frequent competitor in many half marathons in the over 200-pound weight class, I began my study of kinesiology which led me to greater understandings of exercise. My approach to fitness is very simple: “Movement heals and empowers!” Fitness regimens, like any project, needs direction to keep energies focused and maximize effectiveness. By taking a deeper look at motivating factors, as well as lifestyle patterns and nutritional needs combined with physical assessments, we can create a program that is customized to meet your goals and take your health to the next level.
I bring to every session well organized workouts utilizing traditional exercise techniques, functional movement and an overall holistic approach that leads to results. Whatever your fitness level, I am ready to educate you towards better health and your goals.
"Life has a way of taking us places we never thought we would go, so we need to be ready to keep up with the pace of the adventure." — Michael McClain
